The affiliated agencies and staff of Evidence Generation participate in symposia focused on topics of interest to youth justice policymakers, practitioners, and researchers. Symposia provide participants with essential skills and knowledge for understanding the concepts and policies that shape youth justice programs in New York City and to encourage interaction among participants and audience members.
The Evidence Generation team also participates in occasional workshops designed for practitioners and decision-makers. The sessions provide participants with essential skills and knowledge for understanding the role of evaluation research in shaping youth justice programs in New York City. Youth justice agencies are expected to become more evidence oriented, and there is a greater need for high-quality data and rigorous evaluation methods to establish the effectiveness of service providers. Yet, there is a chronic shortage of funding and expertise for external evaluation research. To support the ability of New York City agencies to develop their own evidence base, the Evidence Generation team works with agencies on the basic building blocks of evidence. The workshops are part of this mission.
